You Don't Need Vision to Believe
Jodie, Essex

When looking at the themes for this competition, I chose vision. When thinking about this in the everyday context, I would think of sight, but what if you did not have vision? I began to think that vision was not necessary for someone to have faith. This is how i came up with my idea that you don’ need vision to believe. You can have nothing, but you can still have faith.

The man in my painting is homeless, he has absolutely nothing of any value – no home, no belongings, no family, no money. He doesn’t even have sight. All he has is his old, worn out clothes, his dog for company and his faith. For us this may not seem like very much, but for him it is enough. Most people would give up but for the man in the picture, with faith on his side, his lack of sight does not stop him He sees his faith, it is enough to pull him through. He does not need vision to believe. Nor do we.
