Open Minds
Karishma & Aisha
The pictures on the purple border are placed on four different sides, Talent and skill, where we have put an actress, a singer, a businessman and a chef. Another side shows the colour of skin and age, a Chinese woman, an Indian woman, an English woman and an African girl. Each has a different age to the other.
On the next side, the pictures are to do with religion, we have out different places of worship from different parts of the world. And finally, on the last side we have put the flags of different countries. In between each picture we have stuck a little equals sign to represent equality.
We picked the colour silver, it blended in with the pictures and our idea was if you look at the art piece from a distance, you can only really see separated pictures of different people and places, but as you look close you being to realise that they are equal (by putting the equal sign in between them), indicating that we should all be open minded because we are equal.
On the rim of the Globe there is a white circle signifying God; it's everlasting shape demonstrates endless purity. At the four corners are peace signs to show how the world should be peaceful. Black stripes represent a resistance, filled with no open mindedness, selfishness, and greed. In the centre of the art piece, the globe of the world with four silver lines, each one linked to a side of the art piece representing a path from the equal signs (meaning equality) as a way of the mess of black stripes containing no open mindedness. It is also a path to the globe of the world, and the purity circle meaning that we are all together and linked to God. |
