Deborah is an experienced teacher and trainer who worked in a large inner-city comprehensive school as Director of Spiritual, Moral, Social, and Cultural Development. Deborah advises four local authorities regularly; supporting classroom practitioners as well as middle and senior leaders. She is the research officer of NATRE, a trustee for Culham St Gabriel’s Trust, Company Secretary of the RE Council, and the Chair of the RE Policy Unit for NATRE, the REC, and RE Today. She was awarded an OBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list of 2016.

What do you love about RE?

'I love RE because I know that by helping children and young people to understand people with different worldviews, we are giving them the knowledge, understanding, and skills that will allow them to flourish in their personal, working, and social lives.'

'NATRE has been my companion throughout my career; providing support, challenge, and friendship within the world of education and beyond. I’d never be without it.'
