Janet is a Programme Director and responsible for the Religious Education subject strand on the Secondary PGCE at the University of Bristol. Before moving into ITE, she was a secondary teacher of RE from 1988-2001 and Deputy Director of an EIC Action Zone in London from 2001 to 2004, with particular responsibility for primary to secondary school transfer.

Professional associations she belongs to specifically concerned with RE include: NATRE, AULRE (the Association of University Lecturers in Religion and Education) and she has been a co-opted member of Bristol SACRE since 2011. She project managed the RE Subject Review for England initiated by the Religious Educational Council for England and Wales (REC) from June 2012- September 2013. She has led the joint NATRE Shared space project, researching the contribution RE makes to promoting good community relations.
