Ravenscote Junior School

I have 25 years of teaching experience and have been RE subject leader for the past 8 years. I am a SLE for RE at Ravenscote Junior School in Frimley, Surrey. In the last academic year. I enjoyed working with members of AREIAC during my adviser training as part of the REvitalise project. I enjoy supporting and leading colleagues in this subject; there’s nothing more that I love about my job than to teach RE.

I run a termly support group for RE leads in my local area. It wasn’t until I started this group, that I realised just how passionate I felt about RE. I enjoy working with other teachers across all key stages to share good practise and to work together to raise standards, as well as the profile of our subject.

I believe in the importance of teaching quality RE lessons which are both engaging and enriching for pupils. Children need to understand faith issues and different religious traditions in order to live peacefully, side by side, with people from all sorts of religious and non- religious backgrounds. Never has the importance of RE in schools been so relevant as it is now.
