Creatures of the Sea – A view of the world
A View of the World: I believe that the world is changing rapidly and everyone views it differently and has their own opinion on what is important. I have used recycled materials, such as tissue paper from birthday presents, bottle lids, tin foil, old rope and paper plates all backed on unwanted chalk board. I don't like to be wasteful
This is something I am passionate about and have made small changes in life to reduce the amount of rubbish I throw away. I made my art based on the ocean and the effect that plastic is having on the creatures of the sea. I love swimming and paddle boarding so I spent a lot of time in or around water.
My Inspiration comes from my mum and dad who rescued baby turtles when they were on their honeymoon. It was very special being able to help and knowing one day the babies would return to the same beach to lay eggs of their own. It has become important to do our bit for my whole family and is something we all share interest in.
I think my work connects to religion because God is the creator of earth and all life on it. I believe we have the responsibility to protect it and the animals and their environment. I hope people will notice the important message in this artwork and hopefully make small changes in their lives that will make a big difference to our planet.
I have tried to show my feelings by including the rope wrapped around the turtle. I think this will be shocking or upsetting for some people, but I believe it’s important to see what is happening to the animals in our oceans and they hope that this will make people think about what they are using and throwing away
