Art in Heaven 2014
There were five categories in this year's Art in Heaven competition, all attracting very large numbers of entries. We estimate that over 20 000 children and young people took part in the competition from as far afield as Indonesia, and we would like to thank them all, and their teachers for the insight, hard work and spiritual thinking that took place. Many teachers wrote to share experiences of the competition: it has an impact on standards, depth, creativity and enjoyment in RE for pupils aged 5-18. Judging, as always, was a tremendous challenge, and we have awarded 25 prizes. The winners all receive a £20 token, and winning schools are also rewarded with RE Today publications or membership vouchers for £35. All entrants sent to NATRE receive certificates of achievement. We liked the fact that 5-7s and 14-19s were more involved this year: the competition is very popular with Key Stages 2 and 3, but just as valuable at the beginning and the end of school.
2014 was the 11th annual Art in Heaven competition and was generously supported by the Westhill Endowment and the Compassion in Education Foundation.
