Altar
My drawing focuses on the altar of a Christian church as seen through a simple, arched church window. The altar comprises three sections, representing the three major denominations of Christianity. On the left is the altar of Westminster Abbey in London, representing Protestantism. In the centre is the altar of Saints Peter and Paul Cathedral in St Petersburg, representing Eastern Orthodoxy. To the right is the altar of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, representing Catholicism. By bringing these altars together the picture demonstrates that although Christianity has evolved through time and now has many different branches, each with their own Holy Places, they are all fundamentally united in their beliefs in the same God.
