Pray, Reflect, Meditate
My piece of art demonstrates the idea of reflection and medication. I wanted to focus on what prayer means to me. Rather than talking to a higher being for me it is more about reflection and peace: a time to think and then to try and act on my reflections.
At the bottom of my piece I have used a grey seated person in a lotus position. This shows that everyone can have moments of peace and tranquillity. It is not exclusive to a religion, gender, age or race but can be accessed by all.
In todays society life is hectic, fast paced and people over stressed and over worked. This is reflected in the grey element of my picture. It is easy to be dragged down by the pressures of life. In school it can be easy to be pulled in the wrong direction, to worry about exam pressure, to want to fit in and not to listen to your true heart. This can pull you into the grey a place often of darkness and despair.
The pink element of my picture shows the ability to be calm, have an inner joy, reflect, be tranquil and still the mind through meditation. To me this is a form of prayer that everyone can participate in, not just for a religious believer. This is what can bring you hope and calmness to face challenges. This is to me what prayer and reflection meditation are all about.
The heart in my work pulls both ideas showing that through meditation conflict can be resolved, we can be better people and create a positive world, hence my quotation.
“Don’t let people pull you into their storm. Pull them into your peace”
If we set an example, remain calm not angry or aggressive it will eventually have an effect on others.
