Binoculars of faith
The idea behind his artwork was that a person was questioning the location of God, therefore looked through ‘binoculars’ to reveal the answer to all of their doubts. Through the binocular, you can see a pair of hands holding the Earth.
I have chosen to keep the frame of the binoculars monochromatic because it contrasts against the main theme of the work (the hands holding the Earth), thus making it stand out. In addition to this, I have only decided to shade Gods hand and not add colour as I believe it does not matter what Gods skin tone is or what God looks like. This is also because God could look like anything and it wouldn’t matter.
The ‘binocular of faith’ have been drawn in a metaphorical sense as they represent, they eye of the faithful. They are drawn to show a theists response to ‘Where is God?’. The hands show how God is holding the world together and how he cares for everyone on Earth, not just a portion of it!
The message of my artwork is that you don’t always have to see something physically for it to seem real to you – all you need is faith!
