East Midlands Regional Ambassador
Julie has had over 20 years’ experience in teaching and currently teaches Reception (Foundation), Year 1 and Year 2 at Utterby Primary Academy in Lincolnshire, where she leads RE, SMSC, British Values and PSHE.
She was part of the working party that revised the last Locally Agreed Syllabus for North East Lincolnshire and was responsible for delivering training on the syllabus across the county. She has delivered training at conferences and supported and mentored RE subject leaders in other schools. She currently runs the North East Lincolnshire RE subject leaders network, serves on SACRE and is Chair of Governors at a local school, where she is Lead Governor for RE, SMSC and British Values.
She is particularly passionate about delivering engaging and enriching RE lessons that inspire and challenge in equal measure, enabling pupils to think deeply and to ask and answer searching questions.
In her spare time she enjoys walking, gardening, baking and reading.
“I believe that RE has a vital role to play in increasing tolerance and mutual respect amongst pupils, equipping them to be a part of an ever changing and multi-cultural society. I am excited about working alongside other teachers in the East Midlands and enabling them to share ideas and resources and be part of a growing local and regional support network. “
