Does wealth need to be purified? Zakat in Islam

25/09/2018

Date: Tuesday 25 September, 4-5pm

Location: Online

Trainer: Kate Christopher

Cost: £30 (Discounts available to NATRE members, see below)

This Autumn term Secondary webinar covers KS3 and 4 and explores the Islamic concept of zakat. The learning activities, which support GCSE specs on Islam, could also be used at KS3 as preparation for GCSE.

We will consider the underlying meaning of zakat, as ‘purification’ of one’s wealth. Using up to date examples and teaching ideas, we will learn about the work of Islamic charities and an Islamic institution, to discover how this spiritual requirement manifests as practical assistance in the world today.
