How can you support the Commission on RE?

We need your help in encouraging the government and its agencies to act on the recommendations of the report. One of the best ways you can do this is to either write to your MP or attend one of their local surgeries. The Commission on RE has published some guidance on how to do this and a template letter here:

www.commissiononre.org.uk/what-can-you-do-to-support-the-national-plan-for-re

If you would like to use your experience to write about one specific issue described in the report such as the National Entitlement, Initial Teacher Education, Continuing Professional Development or holding schools to account for high quality RE, you will find templates here that you can adapt:

1. CoRE Template letter 1 - National Entitlement

2. CoRE template letter 2 - ITE

3. CoRE Template letter 3 - CPD

4. CoRE Template letter 4 Accountabilty

You might want to add a sentence or two showing how a particular part of the commission report is important in your school, locality, child’s school. MP’s are interested in the local connection and this would mean they are more likely to take notice of the letter.

We would be really grateful if you could drop me a line to let us know if you have sent a letter or met with your MP by emailing deborah@retoday.org.uk

Yours sincerely,
