Introducing Muslims:outlining sunni and Shi'a beliefs
Muslims belong to the ummah – the worldwide community of believers – but there are variations in belief and practice. The two main schools are Sunni and Shi’a. These have distinctive identities but they hold many beliefs and practices in common, as presented by Wahida Begum (Sunni) and Zameer Hussain (Shi’a) in the diagram below.
