Jewish beliefs about death and the afterlife

Judaism 101 is a vast website that looks at ‘all things Jewish’ and whilst it is quite text heavy, the language levels are quite accessible for GCSE students.

Classroom suggestions:

  1. Ask students to look at the information on ‘Olam Ha-Ba the Afterlife’ and identify the key vocabulary. Ask them to describe the main beliefs about life after death for a Jew in their own words, and to compare these to the things they have found out about the other religion they are studying.

  2. Students should then check out the scripture references on the page and look each of them up. They should reflect on and comment in a simple table how each of these support the beliefs expressed.
