Jewish beliefs about death and the afterlife
Judaism 101 is a vast website that looks at ‘all things Jewish’ and whilst it is quite text heavy, the language levels are quite accessible for GCSE students.
Classroom suggestions:
-
Ask students to look at the information on ‘Olam Ha-Ba the Afterlife’ and identify the key vocabulary. Ask them to describe the main beliefs about life after death for a Jew in their own words, and to compare these to the things they have found out about the other religion they are studying.
-
Students should then check out the scripture references on the page and look each of them up. They should reflect on and comment in a simple table how each of these support the beliefs expressed.
