Muslim beliefs about death and the afterlife

How do Muslims view death? is part of an Islamic guide for non-Muslims who would like to understand Islam, Muslims, and the Qur’an. It is rich in information, references, bibliography, and illustrations. It has been reviewed and edited by many professors and educators.

Classroom suggestion:

a) Ask students to read the essay on ‘Islam and life after death’, and then to compare this information to that in another source e.g. their text book, or the BBC Bitesize website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/re/death/islifeafterdeathrev1.shtml). They should identify any differences and similarities, and suggest reasons for them.

b) Ask students to check out the Suras that are quoted to see how these match the beliefs expressed in the sacred texts of other religions they are studying. They should use this evidence to support their answers.

c) If possible, provide an opportunity for students to talk with a Muslim, about their beliefs on life after death.
