This is the Assessment Sheet from Year 5, Unit 34. In this unit, pupils will explore the significance of creation within the overarching narrative of the Bible. They will delve into Genesis 1, examining the diverse interpretations that different Christians may hold regarding this text. Pupils will engage in discussions to assess whether Genesis 1 conflicts or aligns with scientific understanding. Additionally, they will encounter scientists with and without religious beliefs, discussing the potential compatibility of science and faith. Throughout the unit, pupils will encounter various theological theories used by Christians to interpret the creation story, understanding their potential significance for believers. By the conclusion of the unit, pupils should grasp that while some perceive science and religion as opposing forces, others do not.
