Year 5 - Creation and science; conflicting or complementary? - Resource 2
This resource is part of Unit 34 from Year 5 of the RE Today Primary RE Curriculum. Within this unit, pupils will learn about the significance of creation in the ‘Big Story’ of the Bible. They will explore Genesis 1 and consider different interpretations among Christians. Pupils will engage in discussions to assess whether Genesis 1 conflicts or complements scientific understanding. They will also encounter religious and non-religious scientists, discussing the compatibility of science and faith. Additionally, they will explore various theological theories used by Christians to interpret the creation story, highlighting their potential significance for believers. By the conclusion of the unit, pupils should appreciate that while some view science and religion as opposites, others do not. Accessible only to NATRE Primary and Cross Phase School Enhanced members.
