Year 5 - Creation and science; conflicting or complementary? - Resource L4

This resource is part of Lesson 4 within Unit 34 for Year 5. In this unit, pupils will explore the significance of creation within the broader narrative of the Bible. They will study Genesis 1 and examine how different Christians interpret this text. Through discussions, pupils will assess whether Genesis 1 conflicts or complements scientific understanding. Additionally, they will encounter scientists with varying religious beliefs and discuss the compatibility of science and faith. Throughout the unit, pupils will encounter different theological theories used by Christians to interpret the creation story, understanding their potential significance for believers. By the end of the unit, pupils should understand that while some perceive science and religion as opposites, others do not.
